Enlightened Are We
Taking our first breath
We do not think of death.
All we do is cry
Inhaling from the sky.
As we grow, we learn.
We feel love, hate, and concern.
But our parents set us right,
Showing us the light.
From childhood to high school
We have a guiding tool.
As we head on our own
At times we may feel alone.
But soon we find friends
And old hurts make amends.
We find our own love
Sent from the higher powers above.
We have children to care for
And it's our turn to guide them through the door.
We watch them grow
And happiness is never low.
When Death comes to the door
To relieve us of our aches and sores,
A little smile we might give
Because love and happiness is why we live.
