Skittles
My tongue yearns for their tangy, fruity kiss.
Hearing them rattle within their glistening red wrapper,
My taste buds can’t resist!
Delectable, sugary bliss is their only, true description.
For that dreary day, or when in need of a sweet tooth,
They’re my only sugarcoated prescription.
Each flavor, like a symphony,
Or a vibrant poetic scene.
Rainbow, radiant colors protruding;
Red, orange, yellow, purple and green.
Original, Wild berry, Tropical, Ice cream,
Carnival, Sour, Smoothie;
All flavors lull me into a sweet, sugar dream.
But some flavors make one wonder.
Raises an eyebrow or two.
Like Chocolate? Liquorice? Mint? Or a bubble gum you can chew?
Each bite, I savor, for the taste produces a smile.
Taking my time for each drop of sunshine,
Hoping they will last for quite a while.
For nothing in this entire abundant world is worst than to hear,
The dreaded sound of the empty wrapper…
That ending moment, I always fear.
