The Islands and the Beach
Islands sheathed in sheer turmoil,
Wracked with wicked gusts of wind,
Drowned in sheets of falling water.
Ocean tides are high again.
Waters lap at islands’ edges,
Tearing up the helpless sand
‘Til the banks lay cold and barren,
And there’s nothing left on land.
The waters’ rough and rugged pull
Slowly settles down once more.
As the sun sinks ‘low the surface,
Passes o’erhead the storm.
Left below only the islands,
Peaceful with their gorgeous view.
Like two lovers after quarrels,
Calming peace lets life renew.
