Rider's of the concrete
Clarksville, TN
Riders of the concrete,
Uniforms of our country,
Land of car dealers
They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I have seen your putrid waters and smelled their odors.
And they tell you are crooked and I answer: Yes, I have seen the smoky distributing bowling alleys.
And they tell me you are brutal and my reply is: Yes I have seen the black bags and heard the screaming sirens in the bitter cold night.
And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city,
And I give back the sneer and say to them:
Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be the
home of the 101st Airborne Division,
Fierce as Wilma Rudolph of which whom fought her battles valiantly
Overpopulated,
Red necked,
Crowded,
But no matter what it will still be a home for all of the concrete surfers, Screaming Eagles, and annoying bachelor car salesmen.
