The Drum

Above the ground
up in the air
there is a drum
and a man.
To beat this drum
he works not hard
but still takes a toll
on helpless souls.
From here the man
can barely see
which are red
or which are green,
but what he knows
yet dare not say
with each drum beat
one insect fades away
