Room of Me

Bookshelves
With numerous
Words
Colors
Pages
Lesson to be learned.
White, pasty walls
Never any more
Than an asylum
Of my thoughts
My feelings
My hopes and dreams.
Pictures of those important
Friends
Family.
Sentimental in meaning
Hang on the spackled walls:
Card from sister
Drawing from a best friend
Glued-up puzzle of a cabin in the mountains
All important enough
To stand out frivolously
Yet also be significant to me.
A part of myself
Lays within that room
Deep
Shallow
Dark
White
Never perfectly aligned
But who I am
Lost
Alone
Scared
Grateful
Guided
Loved.
Tickets of old movies
Awards for academic achievements
Clothes hanging in the closet
Writer’s block written on my forehead,
But it’s my room,
And always will be.
