The Sunset
The Sunset
Rich, violet purple
Bright, cherry pink
Small, faintness of baby blue amongst it all
Clouds covering the prettiest parts
Along with half of the sun
Usually a good thing
But today,
Looking at the non-white, valley mountains
In Salinas County
The sun would have been the blinding cherry on top
Lush green, strawberry fields
Compacted, coffee-brown dirt
Smoke-providing factories and industries
All cover the ground.
The pallid blue and white clouds,
Swirling every which way
Except down,
Tell me dreams are possible
Life is forever possible
And hopes,
Hopes are definitely okay.
All that from clouds,
Of course not,
All that from the sky.
New houses,
New shops and towns,
Block the breath-taking sunset.
That’s okay though
It’s okay.
It’s all going to be okay
Whatever okay really means.
You see,
The beauty in everything
In a sunset
In the nearest person to you
Even the ground you fall on sometimes.
It’s all beautiful
I guess it’s how you look at it.
The sunset
Always beautiful
No matter how you look at it.
