Dragons dance

Two dragons dart toward the cold crisp ground
A swirling dive to the frost ice mound
The snow beneath a glittering sight
A free for all fall in the moon struck night

Their claws interlocked never to let go
A dance of grace, so smooth, so slow
Their wings a scaly pale white
Their talons release into a full winged flight

Spreading wings fill the dark blue night
Their eyes sparkle; forever so bright
They separate once but never again
The ground is near the dance is at its end

Two dragons dance is over for now
They give each other one graceful bow
Landing softly, the ground so cold
Their talons claw, their wings will fold

She turns away with one look back
He’s tail gives the ground a few swift cracks
He follows her, knowing well
The dance was clear, that love has fell

They found a cave not far from where
Their lovely dance took flight in the air
There is two their will be three
So she might take flight and finally be free

Away from her parents cave she will fly
They will watch and roar good-bye
There are sad to lose their own
But she must learn to fly alone

She will find one, like her mom
And when she does she must be calm
Bad moves might cost her one on one
If she doesn’t be careful; her life might be done

Wait, there she goes, taking flight!
With her lover, it’s a wonderful sight
Her eyes glittering, their flying up high
The sun is setting, it’s a golden sky

Their talons are locking their falling back down
A daring dive straight toward the ground
With a release of their claws the dance is done
She lands on the ground; but she is the only one

He has gone; he’s left her alone
She’s all done she’s on her own
He didn’t like her, not at all
The ground is stiff, it is now fall

The winter is coming, she picked the wrong guy
She believed him; and he took off to fly
She needs warmth for the winter, she can’t be alone
She’s just starting her life, and she’s already on her own

She must find a cave and keep warm
She’ll start her own fire it’ll have a hot burning form
In the cave the teenage dragon will stay
Her father will bring her food for a few days

She will try with another again
Maybe that time she’ll find a friend
Then their two will be a three
And their little boy will fly to be free
