Silence of the Ocean

The pressure kept rising.
Light faded away.
The only noise was my heavy breathing.
My heart was pounding faster.
My partner was pointing in the direction of the cave just,
as a giant squid sped past us.
At that time I knew we had to reach the surface.
We began to ascend, but not too fat due to the pressure.
Light became visible again.
Tropical fish brightened our way.
The surface of the water was now clear.
I removed my mask.
The bright light hurt my eyes.
But our journey is now over.
