On a Rainy Day
Read a seaside romance novel,
Then run outside,
And pretend you’re there.
Sing a chorus of somewhere over the rainbow,
And wonder what the place over the rainbow,
Looks like when it rains.
Toss beans into a milk jug,
Slap on some face paint,
Perform a tribal rain dance.
Have a water gun fight,
Which makes no sense,
When everything is already wet.
Stare into heaven,
And see how long it takes
Your nervous system to blink.
Or simply throw off your shoes,
Lunge into all possible puddles,
Until your toes turn blue,
And dissolve into puddles themselves.
