Daughter to Mother
How do you get closer
when there is a barrier?
Emotions and feelings
remain hidden.
Pushing it down,
fading around the edges.
A growing flame inside,
burning away my innocence.
Why don’t you see me?
Do you not want your other child?
You just want him,
I can see it in your eyes
But you can’t have him
Cause he’s gone
If you just wipe away those tears
And look down,
I’m still here.
I’m still your child,
You are still my mother.
