Put Your Guard Up
I built this wall weaved with fear
To repel any chance of hurt.
I built this wall with a cold hearted intention
To escape the fear of rejection.
I secured this wall with an unbreakable lock
So that I could isolate myself from any potential pain.
I secured this wall with a barbed wire fence,
So that no one would seek entrance.
I want to unbolt this wall
And build upon trust instead.
I want to unwind this wall made of fear
And make one thing clear.
I’ll take you for who you are
If you take me for who I am.
Convince me this is real
And tell me we’ll make it,
We’ll make it together.
