Before my eyes
Suddenly before my eyes
strands of navy and indigo unfurl.
Slowly wrapping up the sky,
holding the sunrise hostage 'til dawn.
Wrapping the sky in it's thick dark velvet,
'til nothing we can see remains.
The thick has smothered us
the velvet has lulled us to lay our burdens down for rest.
I watch as something moves
and something changes.
