A Satin Gown

The night breaks dawn
and I've noticed the fire has
stopped burning.
As the embers fly high,
I see I'm left with the
star's embrace.
From beyond the trees
in front of me,
I catch a pair of eyes
staring into me.
Filled with
agony and confusion
Black and empty...
Peering into the eyes
I come to the realization
this isn't where I want
to be.
And yet, here I am.
