Heart and Soul
If you stare into the sun you will go blind,
For too much of a good thing is bad,
But too much of a bad thing won’t be kind.
Reach out to those around you since
that’s why you were designed.
However, not in a way any abuser had.
If you stare into the sun you will go blind.
Try to open your ears to another’s mind,
You may be surprised at how much it has scabbed,
For too much of a bad thing won’t be kind.
Your words are a weapon that can make you do time
Or are windows past your vulnerable soul’s mask.
If you stare into the sun you will go blind.
Your heart is a fragile thing that you must bind
And hide away from the ones that are iron-clad,
For too much of a bad thing won’t be kind.
Simply try to be considerate to those who are behind
In the race to try to fight past what makes them sad.
If you stare into the sun you will go blind,
For too much of a bad thing won’t be kind.
