Death in Detachment
I drove to school today,
Lost in my own thoughts.
I passed the miles in this way.
There is misery here, said I,
A crushing normalcy.
It's too slow a way to die.
I pass the time,
Touching nothing deeply.
Life ought to be sublime.
I chanced a glance up,
Risking my 'lovely' detachment.
Only....a mountain top.
The glory of the gods,
A wall of fire.
Down came my facade.
Sheer timeless beauty,
I don't see it, everday.
I bring it to you--my duty.
