He Thought it Would Look Good in the Future
He thought it would look good in the future
On job applications, his resume, even his gravestone.
It was a piece of cake,
All he had to do was shoot a gun and wear the uniform.
Until one day he was called to duty,
To fight a never-ending war.
His tears flowed free to show that he
Was not ready to leave his life behind.
He stands with his fellow Americans,
Thanking God they’ve come this far alive.
But even as he stands in fear,
He stands with pride,
Knowing he’s making a difference.
