Poppy
I think back to how you suffered
Trying to smile when you saw my tears
Saying
I’ll be okay
You promised
You’d always be with me
That I’d never be alone or
Scared
Seeing your weight drop
Your voice weaken
But you still said:
I’ll be okay
I held your hand tight
Terrified to let go
I only left because you promised
You’d be okay
You broke that promise
That very next day
They told me you
Weren’t okay
That day
I stayed strong
To make you
Proud of me
Seeing the darkness
On the families clothes
I knew
You broke that promise
There I stood
Alone
Scared
Holding a red rose
You said
I’ll be okay
But now
Years later
I feel myself
Weaker
In pain
Broken
But I feel
you here
Just like you
promised
So now its
my turn
to say
I’ll be okay
Just so
You don’t
Have to
Worry
