Freedom Colors
Red and Blue run together,
Blue and Yellow too,
Colors from different rows,
Different corners of this new crayon box.
Maybe We were nervous.
Maybe We were uneasy.
Fears of one another did rise,
In the face of the Unknown’s persistent knocks,
But we saw through Another’s eyes,
And began to stack the building blocks.
They blend, and mix,
The colors bend, and twist.
Maybe it was a murky Brown at first
Maybe They just didn’t seem to fit.
But Violet and Green began to lurk,
And maybe You’re Green,
And maybe I’m blue,
But Together,
Freedom is Me
And Freedom is You.
