Beneath A Gray Sky
wet sapphire eyes
stabbed with knives of pain
long Sienna locks,
soaked through with the rain
my legs buckle at the knees
I can't walk I'm lame
my heart collapses on itself
my mind is broken, insane
smooth, soft, pale skin
drenched and streaked with dirt
narrowed eyebrows, tight lips,
your expression cold and curt
the wetness soaking through your clothes
your skin sticks to your shirt,
tears are flooding from your eyes
those pools of endless hurt
gray hood pulled up stiffly
shadowing your face
shoes untied, dirty brown
mud and muck on lace
silver ring on your finger
thrown down in reckless haste
on the tip of my wet tongue
ash do I taste
harsh words, feet turning,
you're walking away
I am left here all alone,
beneath the sky of gray
each of us always apart,
like leaves fallen astray
my heart and soul will both be dead
by the end of this bleak day
