The Coliseum
Rolling pin columns,
Side by side, by side.
People shelved,
Rows,
The old time groupies.
Mob cries,
For the win,
Sunshine crosses the open wide,
They came here,
To see someone die.
Thrum, thrum, thrum,
Adrenaline pumping,
Arteries thump,
With blood.
Skin blackened,
Dirt and scum.
The Roman legions,
Slamming their drums.
The mob hisses,
Savagery shameless,
Screaming
Come, come, come!
Sweat stings,
My raw mouth.
The chariots, blades,
And lions,
Have been let out.
Bodies scatter,
Like frenzied insects,
And heads, stomachs,
Spatter,
The dead men walking,
Swagger.
I feel my femur,
Shatter,
Everything,
Blood, blood, numb,
Heaven descending,
On the Coliseum.
