Downward Spiral
I saw you fall
From your pedestal
Dragged down and down
You used to be
Hopeful
Now I can’t look
Into your eyes
See the despondency
Residing there
I can’t bear to see
You in this state
I avert my eyes
I know there’s nothing
I can do
I’m not surprised
When I hear you’re gone
I only wonder
If it was something I did
That made you take
That leap of faith
Could I have talked
You out of it?
Convinced you to stay
For just one more day?
I do not cry
But I break inside
When I read the letter
Addressed to me
I recall
Your last day
I do not cry
But I break inside
