My Fire Of Hope

I built a huge fire

I spent on it a lot of time and energy

Inside me I had a burning desire

To see my dreams come true successfully

It was a great deal of hard work

But I strived and struggled

While my hopes and fears bubbled

I managed to get a spark

It lit my world that was dark

But alas, life is unfair

Filled with nothing but despair

For a swish of wind and my fire died

While my hopeless, burning heart cried

It gave me agony and pain

So much work but no gain

The wind squealed with mock

While I wailed in shock

For gone was the fire of hope

For which I had given all I had owned

Dampened though I was by my failure

I forgot all and stood up once more

With a heart , courageous and bold

And once a gain a fire was lit

Upon my face was a smile

My feelings were no longer imbecile

But the merciless elements acted once again
Giving me another dose of pain

For rain poured down on my fire of hope

Resulting in its death once more

Sadly now my fire is wounded beyond repair…

Nothing to look forward to but eternal despair…

i really like your poem :) i have felt like that too at many times, but i have learned that no matter how painful it is it is always better to try than to give up and wonder what might have been. keep writing :)
