Opinions

People have asked for my opinion, eager smiles hiding rolling eyes.
And my response is a dull glaze, lips closed tighter than the most secure vault.
They sit and wonder what’s wrong, bewildered by my reaction;
Thinking what I’ve to say matters.

But, such is not the case.
My words have fallen on sleeping ears:
Never to awake,
Never to hear my thoughts,
Never to be understanding.

And even if they had? It matters not.
Folks of all shapes, all sizes, all backgrounds:
Claim to care for my opinion, pleading to learn my ideals.
It’s all a lie; as truthful as the silver-tongue of Satan.

People, almost sadly, care little. Vile bodies containing selfish hearts.
They only wish to hear what they want.
We are flawed in many ways as a species, and this is one of them.
People don’t wish to hear my opinion,
They wish for me to agree with theirs.

Therefore, as I have done with my emotions,
Taken up the spade, and buried deep my opinions.
So, that they may never see the glorious luminescence of day,
Lest a human who truly cares to sit and listen should walk this Earth.

I nearly fear, however,
That, even until the last day of mortal men,
Not a soul so pure shall exist.
