Like Water Off a Raincoat
this small black dress
slimming and perfect
is awkward on me
it constrains me
makes a small box of me
but I am not a box
I can not be defined in four lines
I walk in 3-d
and when I move
my body commands attention
I can not subtly enter a room
nor can I leave one silently
my body demands attention
its curves are deep
like a twisting rushing river
my body is full of life
somber colors
flow off of it
like water off a raincoat
my body wears the colors
of the brightest morning
and shines like a rainbow
