Ignorance's Fog
The waning frown of a lunar sky
Awakens those dreams you do deny
And shadows the comfort of a blanketed bed
Unthreading the pillow you put your head
Alone you feel in that dark abyss
With creaking stairs and snakes that hiss
A hand unseen in the night you wait
With unlit lanterns you swallow ’mares bait
The seconds stroll by on afternoon walks
Your face the color of blackboard chalk
And in the darkness you are alone
Where specs of stars are casually strewn
Across the sky of a black hole’s twin
Reminding you of dark masked sin
Tears leak from your eyes half-closed in fright
Yet I stand alone at the sun’s first sight
Solo in my stance through day’s life
And into dusk with nonstop strife
I find no peace in sun’s bright rays
Whilst you rejoice with cloudless days
Alone you cry, a whimpering dog
If only you could see through ignorance’s fog
