I Am From Sighet
I am from Sighet
A place I once knew
Here was my home
And all of my beliefs that I soon found untrue
Taken from my home,
And forced into hell
I waited all those years
For someone to ring that freedom bell
I am from the ghettos
To which I was taken
Waiting to find out what was happening
Only to discover, all hope was forsaken
I am from the Night
From Auschwitz to Buchenwald
Observing the deaths of millions
As more and more became enthralled
I’ve witnessed the absolute evil of man
I’ve witnessed it all, every detail
I tell you all so this cannot happen again
I am Elie Weisel
