December,
Droopy eyes as your alarm clock goes off.
Christmas is on it's way, and yet you still have to go to school.
It should be the time of year you get a break.
Stay up late, listen to music, snuggle up in a blanket until you pass out from exhaustion.

December,
The croaky complaints of children in first period,
'I want to go home' they speak softly, slumped in their chairs.
I would know, because I am one of them.

December,
The month where children
wake up early to see if it's snowing.
The month where children
will actually watch the news.
Nerves twisting our stomachs as
we wait impatiently to find out if we have a day off.

December,
The snow covered streets,
White, like a blanket.
The grass is hidden from view,
Branches creeping through the ice.
Streets slick as cars drive on them,
Driveways Icy and difficult to walk on.

December,
Freezing.
But beautiful.
Children sledding down steep hills,
Christmas lights hanging from roofs,
Chimneys blowing smoke,
Hot chocolate, s'mores and cookies.
Christmas trees,
Presents settled beneath it.
The soft chime of the bells in the breeze,
Christmas music playing from the radio.

December,
The boring month.
Christmas is gone and now there's nothing to look forward to.
Presents lose excitement after a week,
Christmas decorations still hanging, yet everyone's lost interest.
December,
The month that is the best at the beginning.
