The Great Wall
The great wall that towers into me,
Stands still and waits to see
If I will climb it,
Stand atop it,
Let the clear air shoot out of my lungs
And my voice take over the atmosphere.
The great wall that washes its shadows over me
Sits gravely and tries to see.
Concentrating on every move I make,
Every step I take to try
To defeat this great obstacle.
But yet,
No matter what I do,
No matter what I say,
It keeps me trapped inside its old brick walls.
Let me find a way out, I plead.
Let me find a way
To fall into freedoms arms
And let it cradle me gently,
And rock me to sleep,
So I can hold fast to my dreams
And never let go…
