"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than be loved for who I am not." -Kurt Cobain

Blue fallin to the ground, no remorse and no pity,
Good men and women dying while they fight for their city,
A battle turned war, the legistics ain't pretty,
But the truth of it all comes down to the gritty,
Call me witty.
I never understood the story, to this day it still pains me,
The blood being shed, the thought shackle and chains me,
Everytime I read the knews, the rage travels through my veins free,
We need to grip tight, never letting the reins free,
Don't taint me,
A tear for all the blue that fell fighting corruption,
Like a volcano sitting dormant, all the sudden erupting,
All they need is a prayer with no interupption,
Instead of talking back, sit down, no disrupting,
Looking for justice,
Oh, Lord, hear my prayer, hear me calling your name,
There's a war going on and we're all to blame,
Can you tend to this fire, can you put out this flame?
Before more blue falls at the feet of this game,
I proclaim,
We need to stand up once more, united in hand,
And see this world as more than just land,
We've fought for so long, it's time to demand,
Protection of the blue, no more to be damned,
Can we stand?

The author's comments:

This piece I wrote after hearing about the death of Brian Moore (RIP), a police officer being murdered in NYC at 25 years old. With everyone going on in Baltimore, I think that the police need our prayers the most. We need to honor and respect the blue they wear. Not all officers are corrupt.
