On the Road
I'm in a sea of lights
Each clear
Each bright
Each in pairs
Like the eyes of red-eyed tree frogs
Thousands
All peeking out from among the leaves
If they dare
Or like a balmy summer night
Of red fireflies
Each sailing
Each flitting by
In the deep untouched pool
That is the evening air
Each drawing
Each leaving behind
Their own streaking trails,
Like burst red fireworks
And their shimmering fading entrails,
In the darkening sky
