Crispy
Crunchy
Delicious
Juice drips down your chin
Seeds all the way
In the middle
Pull 'em out
Stick 'em in your pocket
Find 'em years
Later
Plant 'em
Years later
Babies sit in the shade of the branches
Teens climb up the trunk
Your posterity
Your future
When you die
The tree will remain
Your children bury your ashes near the roots
Your soul wandrs
Smells the fruit
Sits in the shade
Climbs up the trunk and
stares at the stars
years pass
your soul
and the trees
are one
your great grandchild carves a heart in the bark
and it becomes yours
a heart of your own
just like when you ate the apple
your soul weeps,
the tree dances in a breath of wind
one and another together
one but two
they peal apart at the shadow of an emotion
your soul drifts upward
you watch over the tree
from your heavenly perch
watch the generations pass
timeless, your one true friend
the tree
apples are forever

to be honest mary, i really didnt really think about it till it was on the paper. mrs. burner mentioned apples in reading so i wrote that on the top of the paper and then just wrote whatever popped into my head after that.... its lkind of hard to explain and i dont think im doing a very good job.....

Maggie: I think this poem is awesome! I've thought about how much a tree "sees" in its lifetime as well. Great job! -(Cousin) Mary H.
