my point of view
Like gods and goddesses we
possess
obsess
and molest,
till smothered flat by reality,
we set our crowns down
for a day
and keep our imagination
at bay.
She screams that it's all about fairness
but really it's all about her in her head.
Hold her up
bring her down
everybody's dancing around
to help her stand her ground.
so we pressure the wounds
with gauzy similes.
but she, being the
said dim-wit she insists,
imagines they're salty swears
and slaps our faces red.
So I walk and writhe
under said starry sky
ignoring all those whistles when I walk by
yet I can't even glance at her
without wanting to cry.
And then I remember...
(and cringe that it's just a memory)
how his voice used to remind me
of downing Advil
and I'd feel washed and worn
when he left.
His footsteps catapulted adrenaline
into the back of my throat
to corrode it
and make me hoarse.
however
I smile that I can still
been seen with those eyes.
Yes, I'm in something with this
new blonde boy
despite how much his love pains me.
Oh how I despise goodbyes.
Crystallized crystallized
crystal eyes crystal eyes
she won your heart
the ultimate prize.
to have a memory like mine,
is a gift in these cases.
For I can no longer remember
your full lips
your long blonde hair
your abnormal eyes
your big smile
your awkward laugh
your old-man hands
and how your tongue tasted after saying
'I love you.'
so I released myself with a bloody scream
because I physically had nothing left
to cling to.
Jay walking across the street
and avoiding death...the ultimate feat.
Dark eyes will fake proud,
but we won't make-out tonight,
because I punched him in the gut again
in hopes he would puke out his heart
so I could tear out the part
that won't let me
let him go.
Exercise exercise
running reminds me
too stay
alive.
Because everyone else seems to have
forgotten how.
