A Letter to a friend...
If I could write a letter to the me before 8th grade
I'd tell myself to take the risks I passed and not to be afraid
I'd warn don't hide your diary at the back of your sock drawer.
And be careful with those lies you told or troubles soon in store
I'd tell myself to live the life I wish I lived to day.
Live your life without regrets, 'cause changing the past will only change today.
And there's so much more to life than this
Fruitless regrets and your tearful reminisce
And I know you won't believe this but,
Moving ain't so bad and God's got a plan for you as soon as you get there
And the world will keep turning, I swear
Though you may not see it now
Those tears won't last forever
Call Uncle Gary whenever you get the chance
And get back in touch with your first friend from school and dance
And to your only friend from Spanish two
Make sure you always stay true
And Alaina, one seat back and over three
In about a year you'll see her on TV
And there's so much more to life than this
Fruitless regrets and your tearful reminisce
And that boy that's gonna break your heart,
Don't focus on the pain and just restart
And though it feels like your heart's in two
You have my word you'll make it though
'Cause those tears won't last forever.
