So much more than flour and sugar,
that crumbles in your mouth.
To the scientist,
a grouping of chemical bonds
forming, ever forming in the heat.
To the baker,
the origin of life itself
the origin of hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
To the child,
a simple symbol
of joy, happiness, and belonging.
To the daughter,
a gift to her father
of tender loving care,
of thankfulness from the heart.
So much more than flour and sugar,
an edible panacea to the hard bearings of this world.
