The Bench
It remains constant,
Sitting relentless through the harshest Summers and coldest Winters,
It is forgotten by us all as we dismiss the value of that simple bench,
Paint peeling,
Wood chipping,
Yet still standing solid,
Never giving in,
Waiting for a sensitive soul to notice it,
To use it,
To appreciate it,
One day we all will notice that bench,
We will all need it,
We will sit and watch the young ones play and live and experience,
Just as we did,
When we were kids and dismissed the value of that bench,
Beause one day,
When we're old,
That bench can be our ticket,
Our ticket back in time,
To those childhood days.

I wrote this poem about an old bench which I have passed regularly since I was a tot.
