Parcels and Packages
Not unlike chameleons,
we pleasure ourselves in the art of cloaking
even as we constrain ourselves to the point of choking
The death of a feline whose curiosity remained
places no hold over the fabulous enigma of the item contained
Are all presents wrapped in a bow?
How far must the journey lead us to truly know?
Spending leisurely nights upon the rooftops of your city or town
clever wrapping comes undone revealing a man’s solemn frown
Far down the street walks the seemingly casual mistress
whose blindingly bright package hides pure distress
Why do we hide behind such silly design,
And act upon a fake will as if we have no spine?
