Ten Seconds
After the first crash,
In the car we got back in to,
Not one of us predicted
That it would soon be deja vu
Ten seconds....
Ten
I stare out the rear window
Paranoid from head to toe
Nine
Watch other cars change lane
Avoiding what could be the same
Eight
A question in the night
"Are we even allowed to drive?"
Seven
Quick response but unsure if right
"Yes, as long as we have hazard lights."
Six
Smart and attentive ones switch
The road straight behind now is black as pitch
Five
Cautiously still staring out the back
Four
I can sense something's off track
Three
An angry voice next to me screams
"Why the hell is she not stopping?!"
Two
Blinding lights blur my sight
I grab on the nearest thing and close me eyes
One
BANG! The sound of speeding crashes
The background echoes numerous bashes
Zero
This turns to a six car collision
But everyone's safe, unlike in my vision
In ten seconds
A life can end
But in my ten seconds,
Miracles happened
Drive safely and attentively!
