Representation
I walk down the halls and what do I see?
Not a single person who looks
No teachers no janitors, barely any students like me
When issues arise, who’ll be on my side?
When the few are absent, one will walk alone
Trying not to draw the attention to the target already on our backs
I walk down the streets what do I see?
Police Officers killing people like me
Chokings, shootings getting rid of us as they see us
Adding more names to the list
Who will be next? Is the question we hear every time
When will it stop? The question we don’t know the answer to
