A blur of forests.
Thump, thump
as my feet hit the ground.
Faster and faster
my heart jumps around,
I feel I’m getting close.

A sparkle in the distance
and a sound of rushing water,
so familiar.

The shimmering lake winks at me,
it always does,
telling me the secret is still ours.

A friend I always have,
as I look down,
she smiles back at me.
Never does she fail
to meet me here.

As my mind wanders,
the light turns to dark.
The cool breeze kisses my cheeks,
it whispers goodbye.

A pang in my heart,
I must leave.
My feet thump again.
When I look back,
my lake is hidden.

My world is gone,
as reality calls me back.
