I asked you
if you would come and
you said yes-
you promised me.
I waited for you
reminding myself
as the sun faded and
the stars hesitantly peered
out from the sky that
you said yes-
you promised.
I thought about you as
I cried myself to sleep
that night
Hating you for
not coming and
hating me for
believing you ever would.
And as I lay
in the dark
I promised myself that
I would keep
my promises even if
You
never did.
