For Hire
She’s standing alone,
Shivering in the cold,
Her cherry lips shiny in the darkness.
She tells herself she’s strong,
But you’ll see she’s so lost,
If you walk a mile in her shoes.
She wants to look tough,
But it isn’t enough
To hide the truth from her own mind.
She wipes away her tears
As she wonders how she got here;
Still she tries to hold her head up high.
She thinks of all the things she’s done,
But the night has just begun,
And now she waits for new work.
