Forever Free
The bird flies across the sky.
Though it almost died,
It sings with its voice high;
Free, happy, and untied
It sings its melody with a pride.
Strong, fearless, but sometimes confined,
A pride every animal pried;
Free, happy, and untied
It spotted its worm and planned.
Though the earth is all contrived,
It searched for a place to land;
Free, happy, and untied
SNAP!
The bird cried as the cage declined.
It knows it’s a trap;
No longer free, happy, or untied
As the bird is carried away, it weeps with grief,
For its freedom has been set aside
For the enjoyment of humans and their relief;
No longer free, happy, or untied
The bird cries to the individual:
“Why human? Why? Your freedom is very wide,”
“But mine is dividual;”
No longer free, happy, or untied
With a sigh,
Opening the cage wide,
The human seemed to comply;
Almost free, happy, and untied
Not believing its eyes,
The bird darts to the outside.
What a beautiful surprise?
Again free, happy, and untied
It glides through the sky;
Glad it had survived.
It sings its song high;
Forever free, happy, and untied

I am a 9th grade student. I love reading and animals, which inspired me to write this ballad.
