Dreamland
When the sky is traced
with pseudo-celebratory blaze
take your lover's hand
Your thoughts take wing
my eardrums ring
thence comes the sweet dreamland
Where none is tragic
and all is magic
days are bright and grand
Moon emits as nights are lit
snowmen made from sand
Where there's no war
nor any gore
peaceful people form bands
Of technicolor coats
and harmonious notes
humanity unites again
Reality wakes
the concrete shakes
guns and planes are manned
The bombs are dropped
from grim sky atop
seconds left to spend
With a silent scream
we dropped our dreams
and looked into each other's eyes
Our smiles beamed
so fakely, it seems,
our final moment is nigh
With a hug and a kiss
we reminisced
and calmly faced demise
Descended the abyss
along with a hiss
apocalypse, you and I
When the sky is traced
with nuclear blaze
take your lover's hand
Just a slight sting
as our eardrums ring
thence comes the sweet dreamland
I was writing a goodnight poem for someone, and then it suddenly wasn't a goodnight poem anymore.
