my dear
my dear,
my faith’s a midnight sky
a perfect scrapbook paper moon
go on and pick a wishing star
and pluck it from the midnight croon
moonbeams waltz upon the water
they tickle every blade of grass
they kiss each ripple in affection
then disperse like tears of glass
the rosebuds whisper to each other
speaking of the handsome trees
overarching—in protection
lilting to the satiny breeze
diamonds hung by fishing wire
strung across the inky sky
stained by midnight’s lulling touch
and all of daytime’s dainty lies
don’t you see how vast my faith is?
boundless as the sapphire sea
now, into the midnight sky,
tell the faith you have in me
