Midnight Promises
sitting in a pile of hay,
in the humble barn where,
we were both born in destined to,
be together breathing the air.
the last time i saw you smiling,
you whispered in my ear,
promising me a small secret,
that you’d never leave here.
i nodded in deep agreement,
blinded by my naive love for you,
forever promising,
to stay so that it’d be only us.
the last time i saw you laughing,
you laughed at my demise,
as you left me to be alone,
giving up on any reprise.
sitting in a pile of hay,
in the humble barn where,
you left me with a broken heart,
and a broken promise.
but little did you know that in,
that night you promised me,
i made my own promise for me,
because i could already see.
so only when the stars we see,
cannot be stars, and our
mistakes cannot be seen from the
midnight sky, only then,
am i allowed to love you, only then,
am i going to be yours.
