Drafted
Drafted in the war, he was set to go.
She cried that night wishing he was home.
He was sent to get training before he could fight.
She could not sleep at all, any night.
He was only 18 and she thought he was gone.
His training was over but not for too long.
He was sent on a ship way overseas.
She wanted to see him, she knows what he needs.
He started his fighting, he was finally in.
The war was not over until they’d finally win.
She was sent to find work that would help out the war.
He was fighting this battle only for her.
She waited alone until he was back.
His fighting was over just like that.
She had not heard from him and was worried now.
He was finally home, but she hasn’t found out.
She went for a walk alone in the park.
He found her that day when it started to get dark.
She caught a glimpse of him alone in the park.
She ran to his side and cried oh just cried.
He held her so close and said he’s alright.
