It's been a little tough lately
I'm not sure what to do
I give up easily, much to my shame
and extreme embarrassment too

the practice gets old fast
the laps all blend together
I'm finding it hard to get up
wishing, hoping for bad weather

But I always show my face
and try to put on a smile
sometimes I'm successful
sometimes it takes a while

I often cry in my frustration
my lack of self composure
I try to say it's not my fault
I claim I've had no closure

my inspiration left me quickly
moved away, back home
I understand his reasoning
but he's left me all alone

I can make do with what I've got
I know I will survive
but it's hard when I feel ignored
when no one notices I'm alive

I'll find my motivation
my love of swimming renewed
it might take a while, but I'm patient
and willing to wait for it too.
