Blue Eyed Baby
I’ve never seen such a sight before
In my short, eventful life.
The gems of the rarest quality
Have proven to be a knife.
It slices through my expectations,
Leaving me without a word to speak.
I gaze softly in to the uncertain blue
Of eyes too new, too weak.
I glimpse the future far ahead
Of a child so beautiful to see.
Covetous greens and browns glare,
For blue is best to be.
It’s not her fault that she was blessed,
The baby that here does rest,
With eyes that sing like the sea.
