Through the Summer Haze

Lonely oil face on the canvas,
Trapped forever in a gaze,
Of a heart forever tainted,
Wand'ring through the summer haze

And the soul that seems embodied there,
The soul that never changes,
It reminds the fragile body how
It weakens and it ages

If the tide, forever moving,
shan't be gentle in its ways
And the storm that never ceases
makes the walls of cities sway,

May you feel that ev'ry wave
Shall move you also right along
And see for ev'ry wall destroyed,
Another's built, and twice as strong

See the children in the grass
All the world's wonder in their eyes
See the old soul on the porch
Watching his days float right on by

Then see you, the worried wand'rer
Full of hope, but also fear
That you'll whither, waste, and wind up
Wond'ring where went all the years

But you must walk on, dear trav'ler,
Though the road's not always clear
Ev'ry face from ev'ry distant place--
They have all passed through here

So be free as all the winds are,
And let light fill all your days
As you go, forever searching,
Wand'ring through the summer haze

Favorite Quote:
She makes it through her day, but doesn't just “make it” through her day. She holds within her at all time the faith that she belongs, even when she doesn't belong. She belongs to the world; she belongs in her life; her heart and mind and soul belong

Oh my jesus this is literally amazing. I would not change a single thing about it. And that's a pretty high compliment, because I almost always have a bit of constructive criticim for my fellow teen-inkers. I had to stop and read it to my mom. I would give you a favorite part, but I loved every single line.
